The RSGIS keynote speaker is Dr. Harry Roberts, Boyd Professor Emeritus at Louisiana State University and past director of the LSU Coastal Studies Institute. Dr. Roberts is an expert in geologic and marine processes that shape deltas and coastlines world-wide, and much of his work has focused on the Louisiana coastal area. His contributions to coastal research helped earn the LSU Coastal Studies Institute the world-renown reputation it enjoys today.

Dr. Harry Roberts

Harry is from West Virginia and earned a Ph.D. in geology from LSU in 1969. Through his research and scientific publications on the Mississippi River Delta and coastal systems in the Gulf of Mexico and numerous explorations of marine environments, deltas, coastlines, and ocean bottoms world-wide, he developed a well-deserved international reputation. As a result of his research efforts, he has received numerous accolades and awards including recently being named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
