It's not easy to get money to develop a GIS. It's a significant cost no matter how you look at it, but use what you have. 1) Get a Champion to promote your cause 2) Use your organizational assessment to determine your needs vs. your capabilities. Maybe you don't need that $10,000 workstation when a $2000 PC will do the job for you. 3) Part of the GIS assessment for your organization should have included a Cost Benefit Analysis. Use it to justify the expenses. 4) Look for partners to share needs and expenses. 5) Pursue Grants. |
