Federal Geographic Data Committee
  The Federal Geographic Data Committee coordinates the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). The NSDI encompasses policies, standards, and procedures for organizations to cooperatively produce and share geographic data. The 16 federal agencies that make up the FGDC are developing the NSDI in cooperation with organizations from state, local and tribal governments, the academic community, and the private sector.

Louisiana Data Base Commission
  Strategic planning, policy formulation, and administration of state government of state government require that accurate, timely, and consistent financial, economic, demographic, geographic, and other data be readily accessible for management and policy planning purposes. Through use of existing technology for network connectivity and telecommunications equipment and software, such information can such information could be catalogued and maintained.

Louisiana Geographic Information Center
  LAGIC was established by the Louisiana GIS Council (LGISC) and the Louisiana Database Commission(LDBC) to facilitate the distribution of geographic information, provide technical assistance, and support GIS data development among state, federal, and local government.

Louisiana Geographic Information Systems Council
  The Louisiana Geographic Information Systems Council (LGISC) was created by the state Legislature in 1995 to "eliminate duplication of effort and unnecessary redundancy in data collections and systems and to provide for integration of geographically-related data bases to facilitate the policy and planning purposes of the state of Louisiana."
